Gifts that last beyond your lifetime for the Gospel

For many, your own journey of faith has been nurtured and grown through your outreach to international students through the ministry of IFI. On this page, there are three ways that your financial commitment to the mission of IFI can be a legacy, the impact of which could continue to work beyond your lifetime. The IFI development department can help you plan a legacy gift that will continue “your story” of involvement in this mission into the future.

When making a legacy gift, you support the mission of IFI that is so close to your heart. At your request, we can supply specific language that you or your attorney can use to ensure that your gift impacts international student outreach through IFI for years to come.

3 Ways to Leave a Legacy

1. INCLUDE IFI IN YOUR WILL OR TRUST

Including a gift to IFI in your will or trust is the most common and often the simplest way to make a legacy gift. Through a bequest in your will or trust, you can leave a percentage of your estate, a specific amount of money or the remainder of your estate after your gifts to other loved ones. Scroll to the bottom of this page to obtain generic legal language that your attorney can use in your documents. We can supply specific language at your request.

2. MAKE IFI A BENEFICIARY DESIGNEE
  • RETIREMENT FUNDS: When it comes to passing down assets to successive generations of your family, not all assets are created equal. Some assets such as those held in an IRA, 401(k) or 403(b) would be considered income and are taxable to your heirs at their tax rate.
  •  LIFE INSURANCE POLICY: Gifts of life insurance can be a great way to leverage a little today into a lot tomorrow. Life insurance gifts often have lots of flexibility in the way they can be made. Listing IFI as your Beneficiary Designee can improve your overall estate tax position.
3. DONOR ADVISED FUNDS

Gifts through your Donor Advised funds can be a simple way to manage gifts to IFI, both in your lifetime and as part of your legacy estate plan. Let your Fund Advisor know of your selection of IFI for your giving. They will assist you to fulfill your intent.

When it comes to planning how best to share your estate, not all assets are created equal. Please consult your financial advisor or attorney to ensure you select the best option.

Sample Language for a Bequest

The following is sample language for a bequest. You will want to consult your legal and financial advisors for their advice. “I hereby give and bequeath to International Friendships Inc. (Federal Tax ID #: 31-0971249) P.O. Box 933319, Cleveland, OH 44193 …” Choose from the following:
  • ____ percent of the rest and remainder of my estate (after other beneficiaries have been named)
  • the sum of ____________
  • a gift of property (describe property) _____________
Notify IFI (Development team. . (614) 294-2434) when you have finalized your legacy plan. As with all donations to IFI, any preferred designation in your legacy plan will be honored, if at all possible.
